Repairs:
    Repairs are in addition to above sharpening charge.  Add each repair needed to the
    Shopping Cart.  If more than one repair is needed (for example two knives have a broken
    tip), change the Quantity in the Shopping Cart.  Repairs not paid for will not be made.

  • Edge Damage: ----- $3.95/blade
  • Major damage to an edge, typically caused by striking a hard object (rock, staple,
    bone, etc.)  Easily seen on the edge, greater than the thickness of a dime.
  • Broken Tip Repair: ----- $4.95/blade
  • Any part of the tip that is broken off, as opposed to just becoming rounded and dull
    with normal use.  Note:  Broken tips may be repaired from the spine (top).
  • Blade Cleanup: ----- $6.95/blade
  • This repair removes minor scratches, surface rust, and other minor cosmetic
    flaws.  It is done by using a fine belt with a special backing:  NOTE:  This repair
    may remove blade markings, and may remove and/or damage blade coatings
    (although this repair cannot be used to completely remove a special coating).
  • Restore Blade Shape: ----- $5.95/blade
  • This repair restores the shape of an edge that is incorrect due to previous
    improper sharpening.  For example, a knife that is sharpened with a pull thru
    grinder, over time will develop a bow near the heel or bolster (the edge in this area
    will no longer contact a cutting surface during chopping).

  • Return shipping is just $5.00/order.  Shipping is FREE on any order of $30.00 or
    more.  1SharpKnife is not responsible for orders lost or damaged in shipping.  Insurance
    may be purchased.  (Insurance is provided by and subject to the terms of the carrier.)  
    Orders are usually returned via USPS.

    Sharpening includes:
  • Knife bevels established
  • This sets the bevel behind the cutting edge.
  • Removal of minor nicks / chips
  • Minor nicks and chips in the edge are removed during the sharpening
    process.  (Typically less than the thickness of a dime.)  Additional charge for
    major edge damage (see below).
  • Tip point reestablished
  • Knife tips also become dull with use.  1SharpKnife insures the tip is
    reestablished.  Additional charge for broken tips (see below).
  • Final edge inspected and tested
  • The edge is examined under magnification, a test cut thru paper or other
    medium is made, and the edge is checked with a "Razor Edge - Edge
    Tester".
  • Please note:  the above charges are for standard shaped blades, moderate
    recurves, tanto style, etc.  Blades with major recurves, unusual shapes, and some
    rescue style blades may incur an additional charge, or returned without
    sharpening.  Contact 1SharpKnife, if you're not sure, prior to shipping.
  • If, upon receiving your knives, you are not satisfied with the sharpening service
    you receive, 1SharpKnife will refund the cost of sharpening, minus actual
    shipping charges.  (1SharpKnife reserves the right to resharpen in lieu of a refund.)
